Downtown Pompano Beach's Season Comes Back To Atlantic And Dixie In November

On the city's November calendar, nearly every repeating downtown Pompano Beach event lands near one intersection, where Atlantic Boulevard meets Dixie Highway, with City Hall on one side and Bailey Contemporary Arts on the other.

The two sides keep different hours. The block around BaCA at 41 NE 1st Street handles the evenings. That means Old Town Untapped, the Backyard Jam and a jazz night inside the gallery. The Pompano Beach Cultural Center campus at 50 W. Atlantic Blvd. handles the stage and the Saturday mornings. Plan the month around those two corners and most of it falls into place.

Two corners, one month

The old address is the useful starting point. For the 2019–2020 season, the Green Market Pompano Beach was held at Old Town Pompano, 41 NE 1st Street, "at the northeast corner of Atlantic Boulevard and Dixie Road, across from City Hall," according to the market's vendor application from that year. That same address is BaCA's, and it's where Old Town Untapped is held now.

The market itself crossed over. In November 2020, the Sun Sentinel reported that it would move to the Cultural Center for its 18th season. A 2022 article in the same paper put the move a year later, so the exact season is unclear. Either way, the market has been on the Cultural Center campus for several seasons, including the 2025–26 opener. The city's page still calls it the market's "new home," but that wording is a few years old.

So downtown's two anchors face each other across one intersection. Here is how November plays out on each side.

Date Day Corner Event Hours Cost
Nov. 6 Friday BaCA, 41 NE 1st St. Old Town Untapped 6–10 p.m. Free
Nov. 6–15 Eight performances Cultural Center Gutenberg! The Musical! Varies Ticketed
Nov. 12 Thursday BaCA A Taste of Jazz 7–8:30 p.m. $25
Nov. 14 Saturday Cultural Center campus Green Market season opener 9 a.m.–1 p.m. Free
Nov. 20 Friday Behind BaCA Old Town's Backyard Jam 6–9 p.m. Free
Nov. 28 Saturday Cultural Center campus Green Market 9 a.m.–1 p.m. Free
Dec. 4 Friday 41 NE 1st St. Untapped Tree Lighting Ceremony 6 p.m. Free

The first Friday opens both sides at once

November 6 is the only night of the month when both corners are busy together. Old Town Untapped, the city's arts and music block party, runs from 6 to 10 p.m. around BaCA. The city's lineup lists the Shane Duncan Band for that date. Across Atlantic, the Pompano Players open the South Florida premiere of Gutenberg! The Musical! at the Pompano Beach Cultural Center. The run has eight performances through November 15.

The next evening, the action shifts east to the ocean. The free Drone Show Extravaganza on November 7 puts 500 drones from Firefly Drone Shows over the water just south of Fisher Family Pier, in honor of Veterans Day weekend. Pompano Beach's Fishing Village businesses helped make the show possible. The evening runs this way:

  1. 5:30 p.m.: a DJ opens the night
  2. 6 p.m.: live music from Junior's Entertainment Group
  3. 7 p.m.: the 15-minute drone show
  4. 7:15 p.m.: more live music from Junior's Entertainment Group
  5. 8:15 to 9 p.m.: a DJ closes the night

The pier closes from 10 p.m. November 6 until 7 a.m. November 8. The north side of the beach is used for drone staging, so the city asks spectators to gather on the beach south of the pier. The city's event page also lists free shuttles from Community Park and the road closures for that evening.

Saturday mornings belong to the Cultural Center campus

The Green Market Pompano Beach opens its season on Saturday, November 14, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The Pompano Beach Historical Society and the City of Pompano Beach present it. Admission is free, and the market runs on the second and fourth Saturdays through April. Opening morning follows the market's usual format: free yoga from 9 to 10 a.m. led by Nzingah Oniwosan, kids' crafts from 10 a.m. to noon, and music from DJ Trish.

The city arts department's vendor gallery gives a better idea of what's on the tables than any description of "local flavor." Among the vendors it names:

  • Anita's Guacamole
  • Beachside Blends Acai Bowl
  • Coffee Tempo
  • Chocolate Diva Bakes
  • Honey Smak
  • In a Pickle
  • Jellies and More
  • Slice of Europe
  • Spanx the Hog
  • Panda Natural Soaps
  • Patricia Davis Community Garden

Honey has been a big draw at recent markets. When the market opened last season on November 8, 2025, TAPinto Pompano Beach reported SMAK Attack Honey among the dozens of vendors.

On parking, the city points market-goers to City Hall and the south side of the Cultural Center and Library campus. The second November market is on the 28th. The December 12 market runs as usual, and the December 26 date is closed for the holiday.

Weeknights move back to BaCA

Between the two big weekends, the BaCA side hosts the smaller nights. On Thursday, November 12, A Taste of Jazz brings the Gold Coast Jazz Quartet and a wine tasting into Bailey Contemporary Arts from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tickets are $25.

A week later, on Friday, November 20, Old Town's Backyard Jam moves outdoors behind BaCA with Mix Tape from 6 to 9 p.m. Admission is free. Untapped is the big block party on the first Friday. The Backyard Jam is a smaller night on the same block two weeks later.

Some of the month's music happens away from the intersection, and those nights are worth adding to the calendar too:

  • Soulful Sundays, November 8, 6–9 p.m., at the Ali Cultural Arts Center with OSG Old Skool Gang. Tickets are $15.
  • Music Under the Stars, November 13, 7–9 p.m., with Laura Goodstone on the Great Lawn at Atlantic Boulevard and Pompano Beach Boulevard.
  • Smooth Sounds Soiree, November 14, 6–10 p.m., free at Hunters Manor Park, 1801 NW 4th St. That puts the market in the morning and this concert in the evening on the same Saturday.

The new tables are on Federal Highway and East Atlantic

This fall's restaurant news comes from farther east, along North Federal Highway and East Atlantic Boulevard. Only one of these places is open so far.

GRUB, A Finer Diner, at 14 N. Federal Hwy., opened in October. The Sun Sentinel listed it among its fall openings, with owner George Abbondante behind the project. Pompano Beach Insider described an all-day breakfast menu and daily hours of 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. The restaurant's own site now lists its daily hours, online ordering and reservations. That makes it an easy breakfast stop before a Green Market morning a few blocks west.

The rest are still targets:

  • Vicky Bakery, 1154 N. Federal Hwy. Its location page still reads "Baking Soon." Hoodline reported that franchisee Yamile Hernandez hopes to open by late November.
  • RimLay Seafood, 3428 E. Atlantic Blvd., in the former La Terrazza Cubana space. Pompano Beach Insider reports Thai-Cajun seafood boils and a late November to December target.
  • Pho Bar Vietnamese Kitchen, 2515 E. Atlantic Blvd., in the Pompano Beach Shopping Center. Build-out continues, its late-summer target has passed, and no new date has been announced.

How the month closes and December opens

November 28 is a full Saturday. The second Green Market of the month runs that morning on the Cultural Center campus. At 5 p.m., the free Light Up MLK celebration lights the Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard corridor, with the event held at Annie Adderly Gillis Park, 601 Dr. M.L.K. Jr. Blvd. The ticketed Pompano Fall Festival runs the same day from 3 to 10 p.m. at Quiet Waters Park.

Then the calendar returns to Atlantic and Dixie. On Friday, December 4, at 6 p.m., the city lights its tree at 41 NE 1st Street during Old Town Untapped. That's the same corner where the season opened a month earlier and where the Green Market used to set up.
